Like much of Canada, we have a growing population of vulnerable Kingstonians without homes. If elected, my first priority would be to advocate for protecting our most disadvantaged by providing more emergency rent controlled housing. Beyond the clear humanitarian necessity to act, expanding access to emergency housing will make our neighbourhoods safer, cleaner, and more inviting for families, students, and tourists alike.

Transit in our city could be made easier for pedestrians and cyclists. As councillor, I would advocate for an expanded snow clearance schedule so that Kingstonians with mobility aides are able to access the outdoors during the winter. In addition, I would push for expanded bike lanes to protect cyclists from the potential of collisions.

One of the best things about Kingston is our local businesses. I strongly believe that Sydenham ward’s City Park could support a seasonal Autumn market, particularly given its proximity to Queen’s campus. One of my priorities in City Hall would be to find ways to support our local businesses by utilizing our incredible public spaces.

Sydenham is the prettiest ward in Kingston and, as councilor, I would work to keep it that way by staying in tune with residents and making sure that new projects don’t overshadow the ward’s character.

Finally, I would be a tireless advocate for renters suffering from negligence in unsafe or unhygenic properties. For too long Kingstonians have put up with unacceptable conditions out of necessity. In me, you would have an unflinching opponent of these practices and those that employ them.
